Description:

This CPST CEU is for techs who assist SPICA-casted patients and their families with fittings for adaptive seats for the duration of their casting. The CEU will include an introduction to SPICA casts and why they may cause car seat fitting challenges, as well as how the two adaptive seats featured in this workshop often overcome those barriers. We will also discuss harness adjustments and installation education using the Wallenberg rear-facing and the Spirit SPICA forward-facing. Finally, CPSTs will learn some tips and tricks for fitting these seats and educating caregivers about their use, as well as offer some hands-on time with the seats and the opportunity to ask questions.

Objectives:

1. Overview of SPICA casts and barriers to fitting in conventional car seats
2. Rear-facing Wallenberg adaptive car seat parts/pieces/harnessing/installation
3. Forward-facing Spirit Spica adaptive car seat parts/pieces/harnessing/installation
4. Other fitting tips/troubleshooting and questions
